Kitkajoki is a versatile destination offering various experiences. The paddling route suitable for canoes and kayaks begins near Kiveskoski at Lake Kitkajärvi and ends in Käylä. Along the route, there are a few rapids, the most exciting of which is the Class I rapid – Kiveskoski – located right at the beginning. After this, the route crosses Lake Keltinkijärvi and continues along a scenic route dotted with islands towards Käylä. The length of the route is at least approximately 8–9 kilometers.
If desired, the route can be started from several different locations on Lake Kitkajärvi, even from Posio, making it possible to extend the paddling trip to several days.
Our basic package starts in Käylä, from where we transport you and the paddling equipment to the starting point. The route ends at your own pace back in Käylä.
