The canoeing route on the Oulankajoki River starting from Mataraniemi has been praised as one of the most enchanting in Europe. Some even describe it as the “Canada of Europe”. This guided canoeing trip takes you along an 8 km route from Mataraniemi to Nurmisaarenniemi through the stunning landscapes of Oulanka National Park.
Along the way, we move with the gentle current and can stop for breaks, enjoy a snack, and—weather permitting—even take a refreshing swim in the clear river.

What happens during the trip?
The trip begins with a transfer from Basecamp Oulanka to the starting point. At the river, you will receive equipment and instructions before heading out.
During the paddle, your guide ensures safety and shares insights about the surrounding nature. The route follows a calm river, making it ideal for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
The trip ends at Nurmisaarenniemi, followed by a transfer back to Basecamp Oulanka.
Included in the price
Transfers from Basecamp Oulanka to the starting point and back, canoeing in two-person canoes, paddles, life vests, dry bags, and professional guide services throughout the trip.
Optional extra: packed outdoor lunch €16 / adult and €10 / child.
