What to expect on the route

The route suitable for canoes and kayaks starts near Kiveskoski at Lake Kitkajärvi and ends in Käylä. Along the way, there are a few small rapids, with the most exciting being the Class I Kiveskoski right at the beginning.

After Kiveskoski, the route continues across Lake Keltinkijärvi and follows a scenic stretch dotted with islands towards Käylä.

If you wish, the trip can start from several locations around Lake Kitkajärvi – even as far as Posio – allowing you to extend your journey into a multi-day paddling adventure.

Our basic package starts in Käylä, where we transport you and your equipment to the starting point. The route then finishes at your own pace back in Käylä.
