Join us on a rafting adventure in Kuusamo
Basecamp Oulanka is located next to the famous rapids of Kitka river, which flows into the Oulanka National Park. Our popular rafting trips continue throughout the summer until the end of September. There are several route options to choose from, starting from a family route suitable for beginners and the youngest members of the family, to a route for daredevils to the wildest rapids of Kitka river. On the scenic route, you will have time to admire the stunning landscapes of the Oulanka National Park along the river route.
All rafting starts and ends at Basecamp Oulanka, Myllykoskentie 30, Kuusamo. We have a free parking lot for those arriving by car. The price includes high-quality rafting equipment and clean changing rooms. Each raft is guided by an official, experienced rafting guide. Possible transport to the starting point of the route or back from the end point of the route is also included in the price. By
participating in the rafting trip, you support nature conservation
efforts and the operation of the national park in the form of a nature
conservation fee included in the price.
After the trip, you can stay and enjoy the atmosphere and services of Basecamp Oulanka. You
can stay for coffee, lunch or a drink and a snack on our lakeview
terrace, continue spending the summer day on our own sandy beach, in
the beach sauna and take a dip in the clear waters of Lake
Ala-Juumajärvi.

New in summer 2024! If you are on the move without your own car, you can book a round-trip transport from Ruka to Basecamp for an additional fee.
Departures from Ruka Kumpare bus stop Mon-Sat at 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20.
Departures from Basecamp to Ruka Mon-Sat at 11:30, 13:30, 15:30, 17:30, 19:30 and 21:30.
Tickets for the shuttle service are for sale in Matkahuolto's online store. The name of our stop: Pieni karhunkierros.
Note! Book the transport at least a day before - the route will only be run if tickets have been purchased for it in advance.

Nature-friendly rafting with seven rapids and two lake areas. Suitable for beginners and families with kids.
Rafting: Wild Route (2h)
Experience the three biggest rapids on Kitka river. On this route adrenaline is pumping and you won’t stay dry! 18+ only.
Rafting: Scenic Route (5h)
Rafting on Oulanka National Park’s most beautiful scenery route from Kitka canyon through gentle rapids all the way down to the eastern border zone.
Rafting: Wild and Scenic Route Combo (5,5h)
This option combines the wildest rapids and most stunning landscapes of the national park. Ideal adventure for thrill seekers! 18+ only.
