Winter Wilderness Skills

The winter wilderness invites you to learn, explore and try things for yourself. With our guide, you will discover essential outdoor skills and practical ways to stay warm and safe in Arctic conditions. The snowy landscape becomes a place to practise, learn and work together.

We practise fire lighting and build a traditional quinzee snow shelter. As the work progresses, you will see how a pile of snow becomes a sheltered space and learn how snow can offer protection from the winter cold. Our guide will explain each stage and help you understand what it takes to spend time outdoors in winter.

This activity combines practical learning with the peace of the winter wilderness. You will take away useful skills and greater confidence for your future outdoor adventures.
